Your data stays yours
The #1 question business owners ask about AI is “what happens to my data?” Here's the straight answer, before you spend a dollar.
Access limited by purpose
I request only the accounts, permissions, and data needed for the agreed work. Access is documented, reviewed with you, and removed or handed back when the engagement ends.
Sensitive data is mapped before tools are chosen
The workflow, data types, and approved destinations are documented first. Cloud AI use requires your written approval and suitable provider, account, and contract controls. A local deployment is considered when data must remain in your environment.
Provider controls are verified
Available training, retention, access, and deletion controls vary by provider and plan. I verify the controls that apply to the selected workflow, document the result, and do not represent a setting as available when it is not.
Data handling is agreed in writing
Confidentiality, data processing responsibilities, subprocessors, retention, and deletion are addressed before protected data is used. Regulated workflows, including potential PHI, proceed only after the required agreements and technical path are confirmed.
Ownership is explicit
The scope states what is delivered and who owns it. The standard engagement is designed around code in your repositories, tools on your accounts, and prompts and documentation handed over, without avoidable vendor dependence.
A written rulebook for your team
When included in scope, I provide a short AI use guide in plain English so staff know which data and tasks are approved and where a human check is required.
